Generally agro-chemicals face tightening of regulations. Bejo provides high quality solutions to our growers worldwide. Treating carrot and onion seed is not a new phenomenon as individual seeds are often film-coated. However, this enhancing method is not suitable for many of the new growth stimulants or (bio)pesticides in use. Suitable support of protecting additives have the disadvantage that only very low concentrations can be added due to the small surface area of seed.

During this internship you will perform a search for interesting new seed planting technologies suitable for carrot and onion that supply nutrients and water more efficiently (lower inputs), that is more environment-friendly, that safeguard seeds and young seedlings from diseases and other pests without major health concerns, and that is less manual labor intensive.

A market analysis should be executed for closely spaced crops like carrot and onion for the potential new technologies readily available or in development that would meet the above mentioned objective.
